This report is the third edition of a study of the thermal coal market in the EAEU countries. The EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) currently includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the thermal coal market in the EAEU countries.
The object of the study is thermal coal.
The chronology of the study: 2017-2025; forecast – up to 2035.
Geographical scope of the study: EAEU countries – detailed market analysis.
This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (up to 2022); the Unified Information System in Procurement; rail transportation statistics; SBIS databases; foreign specialized companies; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (e.g., elibrary), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.
Scope of the study: the report consists of 8 parts and contains 130 pages, including 40 tables and 38 figures.
The first chapter of the report presents a classification of coals by grade composition.
The second chapter presents data on coal resources in the EAEU countries.
The third chapter is devoted to coal mining in the EAEU countries. It presents statistics on thermal coal production for 2017-2025 and analyzes the current status of the leading players in the EAEU countries, including: Data on existing production capacity, product volumes and product range, business development plans, and coal shipment directions and volumes.
Chapter four presents data on coal deposit development projects in Russia.
Chapter five analyzes foreign trade operations with thermal coal in the EAEU from 2017-2025, identifying the dynamics and main directions of trade flows.
Chapter six of the report presents thermal coal price trends in foreign trade operations from 2017-2025, as well as in the domestic market of EAEU countries.
Chapter seven of the report is devoted to thermal coal consumption in EAEU countries from 2017-2025, providing data on the consumption structure by key industries. The report identifies key consumer groups, estimates consumption volumes, and identifies key trends in this market segment.
Chapter 8 provides a forecast for the development of the thermal coal market in the EAEU countries through 2035. It examines the key policy documents shaping the coal industry's development.
