This report is the thirteenth reissue of the activated carbon market research in Russia and the EAEU countries.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the current state of the activated carbon market in Russia and the EAEU countries and forecast its development for the period until 2030.

The object of research is activated carbon.

Chronological scope of the study: 2001-2023, 2024-2030 – forecast.

Geography of the study: EAEU countries and the world market; Russian Federation – comprehensive detailed market analysis, other countries – brief analysis.

The difference between this work and the studies currently presented on the Russian market is the broader geographical and time frame - the market of not only Russia, but also the EAEU countries was studied in the period from 2001 to 2023.

It should be noted that currently not all activated carbon manufacturers in Russia provide reporting on the production volumes of their products to the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat). A number of marketing studies devoted to the study of the activated carbon market consider only official statistics. This report provides a more accurate assessment of the current situation on the active carbon market, because information is also provided on enterprises that do not submit reports to the FSGS of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the report provides detailed data on the quality characteristics of activated carbons produced by Russian manufacturers.

This report also contains a brief description of the global activated carbon market - data on the volumes of production and consumption of these products is provided. Trade transactions with activated carbon are considered, the world's largest exporters and importers are identified, and the dynamics of activated carbon prices in the period 2010-2023 are studied.

This work is a desk research. Data from the statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan) were used as sources of information; UN international databases (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); Unified information system in the field of procurement; railway transport statistics; VLSI databases; foreign specialized companies; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, Internet sites of manufacturing enterprises and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (elibrary, etc.), FIPS patent database; InfoMine database, etc.

The report consists of 8 parts, contains 189 pages, including 66 tables, 32 figures and 2 appendices.

The first chapter of the report is devoted to a brief overview of the global activated carbon market.

The second chapter describes the technology for the production of activated carbon, its properties, provides data on the raw materials used in the production of activated carbon, as well as on the equipment for production.

The third chapter of the report provides data on the production volumes of activated carbon in the EAEU in 2001-2023.

The fourth chapter is devoted to the production of activated carbon in Russia, it provides information on the current state of enterprises producing activated carbon - production volumes and characteristics of products, directions and volumes of supplies, as well as the main financial and economic indicators of the enterprises.

The fifth chapter of the report analyzes data on foreign economic transactions with activated carbon in Russia (2001-2023), Belarus (2004-2023) and Kazakhstan (2005-2023). The main directions and volumes of supplies of these products have been determined.

The sixth chapter of the report provides data on the dynamics of domestic prices for activated carbon in Russia in 2010-2023, as well as changes in export-import prices (2001-2023).

The seventh chapter of the report is devoted to the analysis of domestic consumption of activated carbon in the Russian Federation in 2001-2023. It shows the balance of production and consumption of activated carbon, examines the industry structure of consumption, and identifies the largest consumers of these products. This chapter also provides a balance of activated carbon consumption in Kazakhstan (2020-2023)

The final, eighth chapter of the report provides a forecast for the production and consumption of activated carbon in Russia until 2030.

Appendix 1 shows the technical characteristics of activated carbons from some Russian manufacturers.

Appendix 2 provides addresses and contact information of producers and consumers of activated carbon in Russia and the EAEU countries.

Target audience of the study:

- participants in the activated carbon market - manufacturers, consumers, traders;

- potential investors.

The proposed study claims to be a reference tool for marketing services and management decision makers working in the activated carbon market.
